Here at Summit Mortgage Corporation, we believe it’s really all in the family. Since 1992, owners Robert and Diana Carter have set the standard for mortgage industry professionals. Their dedication to excellence has set the bar for every member of our staff, creating a community where cutting edge business and a warm, friendly environment exist together in perfect balance.

Senior Management Team

Robert Carter, CEO
Bob joined the mortgage industry in the late 1980s, working as a loan officer and calling on realtors and builders for referrals. In 1992, he and his wife Diana opened Summit Mortgage. They wanted to run a mortgage company from the loan officer’s point of view. The idea worked, and as Summit has grown, Bob and Diana haven’t lost that perspective.

Besides minding the store, Bob serves actively on the board of the State Mortgage Banker Association. You may also see him on the slopes, the golf course, or at the throttle of his Harley-Davidson.

Diane Henson, EVP Finance
Diane has been at Summit Mortgage since 1997 and has 25 years of experience in the consumer lending industry. During her career at Summit, she has worked in the Accounting, HR, and Secondary Marketing departments. Currently she oversees the Accounting and HR departments and works closely with the branch managers on their branch profitability. When not working, she enjoys playing bridge and traveling.

Deb Stanius, Underwriting Manager

Deb Stanius started in the mortgage business in 1977 as a Loan Processor/Closer. Those were the days before computers, fax machines and cell phones. Carbon paper, white out and wheels (car) were her best friends.

In 1985, Deb moved into a Management position and has worn many hats since then. Known for her willingness to help in whatever area needed, Deb’s vast knowledge and experience include Processing, Closing, Underwriting (FHA DE, Conventional Conforming, Jumbos, VA, RD, and Bond programs), Post Closing, Insuring, Funding, Loan Officer commissions, LOS Conversions and Training.

Deb’s high degree of attention to detail, strong understanding of Investor and Agency requirements, and focus on serving customers (external and internal) make her a valuable asset to Summit.

John Regnier, Information Technology Director
John comes to Summit with over 15 years of Information Technology experience. He is a true visionary, solutions-driven, hands-on information technology professional with extensive background planning, architecting, integrating, developing and implementing many technology solutions including web services, internal and external web applications and 3rd Party back-office and front-office packages.

John leads the charge with Summit’s technology team to continually create solutions that make Summit more and more efficient, creating seamless transactions for our borrowers and life a little easier for our sales teams.

Larry Henson, General Counsel and Compliance Officer
Larry has over 25 years experience as a corporate attorney in the financial services industry with concentrations in licensing and regulatory issues. As General Counsel and Compliance Officer since 2003, he is responsible for all regulatory, legal, licensing and quality control issues. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Minnesota State Bar Association, and the Hennepin County Bar Association. Away from work he can be found competing on the tennis courts, doing battle on a chess board, or relaxing at a card game.
